Abilities:
Prominently is his speed; possessing an insane amount of inherent agility, Sonic has earned the nickname 'Fastest Thing Alive', for how insanely fast he is able to move. Breaking the sound barrier takes about a few seconds of warm-up (as in running fast), and in conjunction with his other physical abilities, like curling up into a ball, keen kineticism and precision, makes for an unorthodox fighting style primarily focused on ramming the foe with his speed.
Weakness:
Whether it be genetic, a phobia or straight-up anatomy, Sonic is incapable of swimming, and will, in fact, sink like a rock if he were to actually drop beneath the water's surface. Also, he's got a thing for underestimating opposition due to his cocky nature, which could lead to some unfortunate circumstances given his tendencies to never give up.
POW Move:
Sonic Boost, where he shoots forward with such speed that an intense aura engulfs him as he shoots towards his foes, the aura quite literally knocking away anyone in his path.
Sonic Wave, where his agility is literally weaponized into a rushing wave of sheer force formed by velocity, which slams straight into anyone. Can also be done in the air, though at a more downward arc.
Chaos Ability:
Super Sonic, where he utilizes the power of the Chaos Emeralds to hone his abilities to the very next level, becoming even faster and stronger than before, and almost literally invincible to boot.
Personality:
He's been described as being "like the wind", and is noted for being free-spirited and adventurous. He mainly prefers to simply be called by his name and not any fancy, formal title of any sort. He enjoys relaxing, but is never one to rest in the face of injustice. He is extremely benevolent, and willingly puts himself at risk to help others, taking on any challenge that confronts him without hesitation, though he usually sees his role as a hero as an opportunity to have fun. However, in times of crisis, he focuses entirely on the task at hand and sees it as truly serious with no real fun involved... some of the time. Often, it's an opportunity for a high-stakes adventure filled with thrills.
History:
Where exactly Sonic came from, nobody really knows, and in the case of the hedgehog himself, it's not all that important. What matters is that he has always been roaming the planet, primarily up in the Land of the Sky, simply enjoying life as it was presented to him. Standard fare, but things wouldn't always remain standard for the hedgehog.
A tyrant calling himself Doctor Robotnik, or Eggman as Sonic would quickly take to calling him due to his rotund shape, was terrorizing the inhabitants of South Island, intending to take over the world or some jargon, Sonic honestly didn't care too much when that speech came around. All he knew was that Eggman had to be stopped, and so he did the only logical thing he could think of; stop him. So he smashed his robots, blew up his bases, and chased the scientist off the island... for now.
For it would not be the first time the two of them would come to blows, as Sonic gathered more friends behind him, taking on new enemies that aligned themselves with Eggman, and kept roaming the planet. Nowadays, as activity from Eggman has been rather lax, Sonic has taken the opportunity to relax a touch more, even if part of him is still itching for a grand old adventure.
