Abilities:
Though you wouldn't think so, Knuckles possesses an exuberant amount of power in his fists; able to shatter rock and dent the toughest sort of alloy known to common men with a couple of well-placed punches. What he lacks in the intense speed someone like Sonic does, he makes up for with absolute force. He also has a keen eye for locating underground currents of any sort, such as rivers or streams of magma, and with his keen ability to dig through the ground itself, can redirect them with all due haste.
Another ability of his is literally catching the wind beneath his quills to allow himself to glide, with such proficiency that it could very well be seen as straight-up flying, and though he isn't the very fastest, he's still able to reasonably keep up with Sonic if the hedgehog isn't trying.
Weakness:
His biggest flaw would be his temper; however seriously he tries to keep himself, press the right buttons, and the echidna will fly into a wild rage unlike anything you could imagine; growing unreasonable and more stubborn than before. Additionally, as a bit of a social recluse, he cannot handle girls chatting him up in the least.
POW Move:
Meteor Crush, in which Knuckles literally rips out a massive chunk of rock from the ground, before hurling it towards his enemy to crush them beneath it.
Deep Impact, in which Knuckles delivers a punch so powerful and focused, that the mere impact of the blow actually rips the air apart in an explosion where he punched.
Major Eruption, in which Knuckles burrows underground to take on the heat of an underground current of magma, before launching himself at his foes to barrel into them with a heated aura.
Chaos Ability:
Super Knuckles, in which he attains the power of the Chaos Emeralds, fueling him with power, speed and force unlike anything he could imagine.
Personality:
Straight-forward and independent, Knuckles could be said to be like a mountain in personality. Stalwart and unmoving in his beliefs, he's the slightest touch antisocial due to his reclusive youth, but has started to open up in recent times. He tends to prefer working on his own, which can get him on opposing odds with anyone trying to help him out, but he's at least flexible enough to accomodate for someone equally as stubborn as himself. Though he does have a tendency to act solely on impulse, and is not one for actively strategizing.
History:
Growing up in solitude for most of his life, Knuckles resided at first within the Land of Darkness, simply making his own way as best he could. Whoever his parents, or indeed extended family was, he simply did not know or find out about. Nevertheless, he dealt with the cards fate had given him, and soldiered on throughout most of his life. He eventually decided to set out himself, donning a wide-brimmed hat and a pair of sunglasses to protect himself against the unfamiliar warmth of the sun, to see what he could accomplish.
From there, he found that he had a knack for treasure hunting; diving around the Land of Darkness for ancient relics and precious gems that had long since been forgotten by history, to add to a growing pile of treasure. He also eventually found his way to the Land of the Sky at some point, where he met upon a blue hedgehog, and, in spite of initial differences, they took a shine to each other, and became friends of a sort. Though he spends most of his days hunting treasure beneath the Land of Darkness, he's found that the Land of the Sky has a charm that his homeland couldn't quite compare to, and thus heads up there from time to time in order to explore.
Anything Else?
The possibility of some ancient lineage might be there, but don't consider this echidna as a Master Emerald guardian just yet.
