"*heavy sigh*...just a flower vase, sugah. Nunthin to worry about. Not like the lil darlin broke any of mah stereo systems."

For some reason, his mother looked at his house, in deep thought.

Shaking her head, she returned to her pleasant smile for Sonic. "That's nice, dear. If you don't mind, I'm gonna say hi to Tails."

With that, she headed inside the old plane...with the chili dogs.

"Hey, hold up!" And he ran after her. No way was he leaving the chili dogs on their own.

He covered his mouth to giggle some more at that phone call, and then he went and left the garage.

This meant that he saw Sonic and his mom come in. "Oh, hi Mrs. Hedgehog!" He greeted with a smile. He never was annoyed with her visits like Sonic was.

Just as long as he's not poking holes through the covering. "Sorry 'bout that Buns, I'll find you a new one. My trip just ended, so tell Tufftee I'll be back in no time."

Hiding from within the garage's shadow, Fang frowned. He's not much surprised he lost another emerald by these guys, but its still annoying. Normally he would only steal from other thieves, not ordinary folk. Well, Sonic really is a challenge. Sides, he has stolen from bad guys too, he might not be a crook but the hedgehog was no stranger to swiping.
Eyeing that basket of chilidogs being carried in, the hedgehog's most favorite food, an amused smile crept on his mouth.

"Why hello, Tails." she smiled, setting the basket on the kitchen table. Leaning her head toward the garage door, "Is someone else in there? I'm sure she like some chili dogs."

"No need, sugah. Ah just---oops gotta go. Tuffie-darlin! Don't go near the-" And the phone connection was cut off.

"Yeah, it's Antoine and Sa--I mean, uh, Ricky..." He responded. He was never really sure which name to call her by, and always wanted to be careful. "They were there when we got there, so we brought them back."

Actually, she never met 'Ricki' in person. "The reporter? Is she here for an interview?" Glancing at Sonic, "You're not one for reporters. What changed your mind?"

Already standing by the kitchen table, Sonic was holding a chili dog and was just about to dig in when the purple hedgehog snapped his attention away. "Nothing." he remarked with a shrug. "She and her cameraguy were skulking around Robotropolis about some liquid metal Eggman apparently swiped. They were just in the area when we popped back, that's all."

Sighing, hoping her brother would behave, she hanged up. As much as she would love to pester Sonic for that interview, her big sisterly duties call. Just when she was about to get Antoine, she noticed a new figure, "Oh, hello."

Now if Sonic would go back to eating hi chili-dog, he'd be only be taking a bite out of the air (or his finger, whatever works) as his chili-dog mysteriously vanished!

Seeing that Sally noticed Sonic's mom. "Ricki, this is Sonic's mom, Bernie," he introduced.

Quietly, while keeping a smile, she noticed the basket was gone. Oh she didn't know what happened, but she knew that Sonic wasn't THAT fast. "Hello there." Seeing that Chaos Emerald in Tails' hands, she suddenly took it. "Sorry dear; can't help to see jewelry."

Now there are many things even her own son didn't know about her. This was one of them. Chaos Control!

Using the power of the emerald to stop time around her.

"Where are you...?" she growled, looking around.

Right in the shadows was a purple mobian trying to sneak off with the basket. He didn't seem aware of time was slowing time, to him everything was moving normally.

With such speeds that seem around Sonic's tier, Bernie zipped over to Nack, took the basket, placed it back where it was, originally, and slid a hot dog right into Sonic's hand. Then she grabbed Nack and shot out the door....

...they were now out in the main island, placing him off a cliff for him to fall into the waters. Don't worry; it's a safe landing. He'll just get wet.

Time returned back to normal, as if nothing happened, and Bernie was back where she was, as if she never left. "So Sonic rescued you? And here I thought you were here for an interview," Teasingly grinning at Sonic, "Or Sonic added yet another to his harem."

He just rolled his eyes lightly as he munched down on the hotdog he hadn't quite noticed was gone. "Wouldn't have time for that sorta thing anyhow." he remarked with a light shrug.

"Yeah, we just rescued them is all," Tails added.

"Trust me, I'd love for an inte-HAREM?!"


"YYYYYIIIIIIPPPEEEEEE!!!!"

Normally she'd jump at such a yell in peril, but recognizing the voice, she shrugged. "Anyway, love to pester Sonic for something long overdue, I have to save my friend from a certain wannabe-quickster. C'mon, 'Toine!"

"Ah, oui!" he quickly nodded, praying to the gods Sally wouldn't ask about the camera that he left in Eggman's HQ...that was destroyed...


Giggling, she then looked at the emerald in her hand. "These appeared last year, I believe. Just don't bring this around your father. You don't want another argument about these."

Yes, Sonic's father works for GUN, and he been pestering his son for him to hand the emeralds over to GUN so they can lock them up. But even Sonic knew that was a bad idea. Those guys obviously would use them for weapon purposes. His father was too naive to see that.

"Right, right..." Sonic remarked with a small sigh. He wasn't one for discussing the workings of that organization anyhow; way too many reckless fools working among them for his liking.

"Thankfully, nothing too bad happened with them; anything Eggman tried to do with them we've managed to stop before it got too bad," Tails said. "...but I'm curious what he wants that morphing metal for..." and he rubbed his chin.

After all, he hadn't seen what Sonic saw, which was Metal having morphed from a copy of Antoine. The door shut in front of him before Tails could see it.

Tossing open a warp ring, she smirked as she entered the large portal. "The sooner I can send Tufftee to bed, the sooner I can upload the footage we've recorded."
