Not that she would know that. "Oh dear...I'm so sorry to hear that..." she muttered.

"Unfortunately, I was forced away from my duty there to retrieve the Sol Emeralds, after a couple of thieves attempted to steal them," Blaze explained. "But then Lilac showed up... And her very presence caused them to split off and fly off to various places. I suspect she has a connection with the Kingdom Stone."

...and, now she was confused. "...um...Kingdom Stone?"

Knuckles glanced back at them as they talked.

"Oh, yes, I forgot you might not be aware... In the Land of the Sky, there is a continent called Avalice, with three great kingdoms. Legend has it, long ago, it was ground zero of a battle between two great creatures of Chaos and Order. But then, from beyond the stars, came a great dragon - not one from the Land of Darkness, but one that towered across the landscape, and singlehandedly drove the two creatures back to their domains, by using its power to suppress theirs. To keep the two powers apart, it transformed into the Kingdom Stone, and it has been mutually guarded by the three kingdoms ever since," Blaze explained. "its kin blessed Lilac's ancestors with dragon blood, before they disappeared. I've seen the Kingdom Stone myself, it is a thing of beauty. Like the Kingdom Stone itself, to a lesser degree, I believe Lilac has the power to suppress the Chaos and Sol Emeralds."

"...wow...that's a lot of power..." Cosmo muttered, a bit worriedly.

"You might not wanna tell anyone else about that." Knuckles shot in, as he eventually stopped, patting the ceiling of the tunnel. "...ah, it's not wet." He gave the two a nod. "We're going up!" And he began to dig upwards now.

"Noted." Guess who was waiting for them on the surface? "Hi, guys! I'm pretty sure this island is totally deserted!" She was standing on a higher spot. "Well, let's find the Emerald, before that fact changes..."

She climbed out to stand and look around.

As he got out as well, he looked around the place whilst adjusting his hat lightly.

She hopped out as well, and started looking around, "why would anyone set up a military installation in a place like this...?" "Who knows? Whoever did certainly didn't stick around to take their stuff with them when they left."

She listened in the air. "...tread cautiously. There still might be something here," she murmured.

She nodded, lighting a small flame in her hand, keeping a cautious eye out. "Alright... Let's see if I can spot anything," she said, launching herself up to higher spots to try and get a better view of the island.

Nothing but the usual abandoned military base. Lots of hangers -many crumbled or ripped-, some ruined buildings. Nothing much.
However, if any of them have good senses, they could sense an emerald here...like, below the base.

And he picked up on it first. "...I think I caught it!" And he began burrowing his way towards where he had sensed it.

And Knuckles would punch a hole into a dark room, cold, and with sounds of water dripping, and metal rusting.
